Wonderful flame mahogany case with intricate fretwork detail to the glazed door.
Silvered dial, 6mm movement plates, 16 leaf pinions throughout , jewelled pallets and oil sink covers with endshake adjustment screws front and back.
Dead beat escapement with maintain power and six spoke wheels.
The movement also bears the makers stamp.

brass face 8 day oak grandfather clock
fine quality oak longcase grandfather clock by george lupton, altrincham circa 1780.
the case, with a lovely rich colour and patina has break arch hood with brass finials, reeded columns and long slim trunk door.
the arch dialed brass face with silvered chapter ring and cast corner spandrels, the 8 day movement striking the hour on a bell.
george lupton was a clockmaker of repute, he finished his movements to a very high standard as is clear to see with this particular clock, he was also an engraver so it is reasonable to assume he engraved his own dials too.
this really is a very handsome clock not done justice by the photographs. it has been fully serviced and is in good working order.
